November 28, 2013 Thanksgiving Day Virtual 5K hosted by Kiley @ DailyVitaminF Completed in Onalaska, WI 27:42
We got up early and headed out to complete this 5k before heading out to visit our family for a long weekend. Felt good to start the day off with a quick run together before the craziness of Thanksgiving started. Because of traveling we never got our time/picture submitted to be officially included in the race- we completed it and that is all that matters.

2012 Races

January 7, 2012 S-NO-W Fun Run (5 mile)- Lake Geneva, WI 47:45.2
This year this race turned into a couple's weekend away. We had a great trip to Lake Geneva and laughed so hard on the way! The weather was beautiful this year and we had a great race. This was the first race that I got to run with my best friend. Tim was hanging back with us not wanting to leave me behind. She told him to go on ahead and push to a PR and she would hang with me as her goal was to just enjoy this race and have fun! It was great to run with her. She was so encouraging and pushed me the whole race! Tim (46:16.1)
 Post-race
Julie and I having fun at the after party!
April 22, 2012 Avery's Wish 5K- La Crescent, MN 39:36
A friend/MRTT member had the goal of running a 5K race and this was the one she wanted to do. I ran this race with her and another friend to support her and help her get through it. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful course- minus the hills! Wow! What a route to pick for a first race; I have never seen so many hills! It was a great race and I would love to do it again!

Her goal was to run the whole race and she accomplished that. She was amazing! I was so proud to help her accomplish this goal!

It felt great to run a race to support someone else. I can't wait to do more races with the Coulee Region Chapter of MRTT.

2011 Races

January 8, 2011 S-NO-W Fun Run (5 mile)- Lake Geneva, WI 48:07.2
Our first 5 mile race! No recap of this race as my training journal stopped just before this.
Tim (48:15.3)
May 7, 2011 Roxbury Rural Run 5K- Sauk City, WI 28:22
I had been off of running for a few months due to severe shin splints. I only did a few runs before this race. This was our first race with our great friends. Tim (26:04)
Isaac ran the Half Pint Half Mile and came in 1st place!

Riley ran the Kids Country Mile and got 1st place in the boys 6-8 division. (7:18)

July 2, 2011 La Crosse Chileda Classic 5K- La Crosse, WI 26:17.2
Tim and I ran together until the last half mile or so. Then I told him to go on ahead as his pace was too fast for me to continue. Riley took off on his own at the beginning but ended up having to walk because he started off to fast. It was really hot and sticky but was a great race.
Tim (25:37.5), Riley (28:06.7)
September 24, 2011 Maple Leaf Road Races Half Marathon- La Crosse, WI 2:05:24.5

Pre-race: Our FIRST Half Marathon

Post-race: Holy Crap we actually did it!
We ran together the whole time and finished with exactly the same time.
Tim (2:05:24.5)
It was also great to have the support and encouragment from my best friend who came to run the race too! She is way faster than me but she was there waiting for us at the finish line!
November 19, 2011 UW-L Turkey Trot- La Crosse, WI 29:07.20
Another great race with Tim, Riley, and my dad. The weather was great! The race was fairly congested the whole route but it was fun to be with so many people. Well organized and fun race!
Tim (28:21.11), Dad (28:57.09), Riley (28.59.40)
December 11, 2011 Rotary Lights 5K- La Crosse, WI 32:50 (ran with Isaac)
What a great family run! The weather was beautiful this year. This was Isaac's first 5K race and also the first race for me pushing Aidan in the stroller. The goal was for Isaac to just run the whole thing. The agreement was that Tim would stick with Riley and I would stick with Isaac since I had the stroller. Isaac ran the whole thing and talked my ear off while doing it. At the end when we saw the finish line we decided to pick up the pace and sprint to the finish. At that point Isaac lost one of his shoes. He stopped and picked it up and carried it to the finish! He was so proud of himself for completing his first 5K!

2010 Races

July 3, 2010 La Crosse Chileda Classic 5K- La Crosse, WI 50:37.6 (Walk)
I had just started running in March when the weather warmed up and we were training for our first 5K race. I wanted to run and was ready but was afraid to run my first race alone so I ended up walking it with my family and some friends. My training journal says, "Perfect weather. Regret not running it but the start was a little crazy and I didn't want to do it alone. Great experience to get a feel for races."

July 24, 2010 Shed Your Threads 5K- Elkader, IA 26:38
My training journal says, "1st 5K Race! Pony Hollow Trail in Elkader, IA. Weather started out great but once on the trail there was no air movement and it got very hot! Felt like I started out too fast. Last mile was really hard and had to slow down a couple of times. Ran with Tim until just before half way when I had to slow down from his pace. 1st mile was around just under 8 minutes. Felt great to do so good! It was fun to run a race with Dad."     Tim (25:04), Dad (24:55)

August 29, 2010 Onalaska Legion Community Days 5K Run/Walk for ALS- Onalaska, WI 25:14 (per my watch- no timing for the race)
Per my training journal- I worked a PM shift last night and saw this race on the news so I decided to look it up. It had same day registration and I was going to run anyway so I decided to do it. The course wasn't marked great and I was one of few that did the full course. The group in the lead didn't do the full course! People even commented to me at the end, while looking at the course map and saying that they were short, that I was one of the only people to do it and how did I know to go that way? The painted arrow on the ground told me to even though the volunteer at the intersection didn't.
Weather was great- cool but sunny and got warmer as the sun came out. Felt great. Felt like I started out slow and had plenty left to kick it down the last 3 blocks or so.

December 12, 2010  Rotary Lights 5K- La Crosse, WI 29:59

Dad, Tim, Riley and I ran even though we had tons of snow all weekend and blizzard warnings leading up to it. The wind chills were below zero and temps were in the single digits. It was very windy off the water for the first 3/4 mile. Riley's first 5K race and he finished ahead of Dad and me and placed 3rd in 0-13 year old boys. He was so excited. Even though it was cold it wasn't really too bad and we had fun. Well run event!
Riley (27:52), Tim (27:54), (Dad 28:40)
